| 2007 Season
Well the 2007 season is just around the corner and the Crew of the Mary Lou can't wait. We will again be sailing out of Sandy Hook Bay Marina, located in Highlands, NJ. We are anticipating another great season and look forward to having you aboard. If the winter continues to be a lamb, I would expect an early Striper season. So if you are looking to get out for a real memorable day with friends or family book a trip aboard the Mary Lou Crew. Give us a call or send us an email to book early for the Striper season, because I am sure the prime dates will not last. Hope to see you this season.
Captain Darren Mary Lou Crew Sport Fishing Stripers
Had Sean Merian from Cedar Knolls, NJ out for a shot at some stripers. Well we found some fish after checking the Reach area out. The water up there was cold and dirty and not much life. A move out to Romar Shoal in 12 feet of water put some fish on the hooks. Although there were not many to realing get excited. Made another move outside to the ocean and read a few fish, but again only caught a few more. All the fish were little and no keepers. Stipers
Had a group out on the Mary Lou Crew for a day of Striper fishing from Sussex County. We fished three different spots and had fish on two of the three. More shorts then keepers today, but did manage to bring fish home. Conditions were not the great today. Stipers
Had the Mary Lou Crew out for a half day of trolling. Went up in the reach and had several nice fish, and all the blues we wanted. The group was very pleased and it was just enough time before the wind picked up and the fish stopped biting. Not a bad day on the water. Stipers
Had the boys from Eastern Concrete on board again for another banner day of Striper fishing. We fished one drop in the Ocean and had the big boys going in no time. We kept our limit and two bonus fish and the largest fish went 32lbs. We also added a nice 11 lb Blackfish for good measure. We will be back out again all weekend and again on Monday. Stipers
Had the Mike Gates charter on board for another shot a striper. Fished with clams and had a decent pick of fish. The largest fish was 34 inches. We had a late start due to picking up a ball of rope around the starboard prop. All in all it turned out to be a fun day although we got hit pretty hard by blue fish. Stipers
Mary Lou Crew was back out with the George Gibson charter. We stopped on one of our favorite spots and had the fish going within minutes. Most of the fish were just a half inch short. But we did manage to put some in the cooler. Left that spot and went on the troll after a call from Captian Mark of the Drop Off. Within in minutes of the lines going in the water we had big bass on. This continued until the tide slacked then the blue fish came on. After the change in tide we left and joined another friend by ourselfs and caught some more big bass. The largest fish went 38 inches, with all the fish in the 32 to 38 range. Great day on the water. Stipers
Mary Lou Crew was back out for the 5th day in a row with the guys from Shamrock Design. Hitting all the spots from the day before did not produce like we were hoping. We did manage to put some fish in the box, but with the wind ripping out of the North West at 25 knots and the tide coming in made for real hard conditons. Later in the day it turned out beautiful and as flat as a pond. Fun day with a great bunch of guys. Stipers
Had the Mary Lou Crew out for another day of Striper fishing with the Dave Foss and friends from Pats Tavern. We made one drop and had a fish on within 15 minutes. The biggest fish of the day was 33 lbs and a few others in the mid 20's. Had to deal with a ton of blue fish. Not a bad trip for only 4 hours. Stipers
Had the Mary Lou Crew back out for the Stripers with a group from Bergan County. Well I have to say I out smarted myself today. I told some friends were to go and I actually went there first thing in the morning but did not like what I saw and never put a line in. Well BIG mistake the fish were there and my buddies beat them up. By the time we ran back to them the bite had slowed and we only put two keepers in the box and tons of blue fish. That how it goes! Stipers
Capt. Darren was back out with a group from the Beaver Creek Farm. Started out in the Ocean and made one drop and had fish on pretty quick. The fish were small today, but we did manage to put enough keepers in the box. Made a move down to the rocks and trolled for a little. Had one fish that went around 20 lbs. Ran back into the bay but nothing but bluefish. Beautiful day on the water. Mary Lou Crew still has some dates open for the best Striper fishing time in the month of June. So give us a call! Bluefish
Capt. Darren and Mate Phil Mancini along with two others went out for some bait for the upcoming shark tournaments. Netted over a hundred bunker and then went searching for some blue fish. Managed to catch a few but not nearly enough for sharking. Also added some flatties for good measure. Shark Tournaments
Took a weekend off from chartering and brought the boat down to Brielle to fish the JCSA Mako fever and Mako Mania. Saturday we had good fishing with 6 blue sharks and 1 thresher that weighed in at 220lbs at Hoffmans. Back out on Sunday to the same area. Not as much action as on Saturday, but we did hook up with another fish and after an hour fight we boated another thresher this one a little bigger and weighed in at 250lbs. No makos so no money, but we did have a a great time. Fluke
Had the Mary Lou Crew out for some hot fluke action. We fished a few differnet spots and had fish on every drop. Largest fish went 5lbs. We ended the day with 15 keepers and a ton a shorts. We actually ended the day with only a few pieces of bait left. Fluke
Spent another day on the Mary Lou Crew catching the flat ones. Started off down the beach, but due to a lack of wind there was no drift. Caught a few fish and decided to make a move back up North. It turned out to be a good choice. We ended the day with a dozen keepers and also added another dozen of nice Seabass. Had a lot of fish in the 16 to 16 3/4 inch bracket that had to go back in. Fluke
The Mary Lou Crew was out for another day of fluke fishing. But today the fluke got the best of us. We fished everywhere and I mean everywhere, but could not get the fish going. Picked a few fish at each spot but nothing to right home about. We finished the day we a few keepers and six seabass. Not a good day with wind against the tide all day. Back out again in the morning hopefully things will change. Fluke
Had the Bob Reinemann and son charter on board with us again for another day of fluking. The conditions were not the best, but we did manage to put a nice catch together. The charter stuck it out all day and fished hard. By the end of the trip we had 12 nice keepers in the cooler and nice fresh fillets to take home for the dinner table. Fluke
Back out today to fish the Middletown Elks Fluke t-ment. We had pretty decent fishing in the morning, but the afternoon was just horriable. We ended the day with a 7 pounder another at 4 pounds and a few in the 3 to 3 1/2 pound range. At the fillet table we ended with a dozen keepers and several bags of nice fillets. No fish big enough to put us on the board for the t-ment. Fluke
Had the Mary Lou Crew Back out again for some more Fluke action. Started off between the channel for the last of the incoming tide. With live snappers and fresh bait we had none stop action. Not as many keepers today, but we made up for in action. Had several fish in the 3 pound range. For a half day trip with young children it was a nice day. Fluke
Had the Cole Printing boys and their kids onboard today. We started out in the Sandy Hook Channel, but after two drifts and no fish we decided to make a move to the Ambrose. It turned out to be a good choice. Although the fishing started out slow while we waited for the right drift, once it started the bite turned on. We ended the day with 9 nice keepers and another handful of shorts. The largest fish was 5lbs. But the highlight of the trip was when one of the anglers hooked into something BIG which at first I thought was a striper as the line raced to the surface. But to mine and everyone onboard surprise a 85 to 100 pound thresher went sky rocketing into the air!! After a 15 minute battle and backing down on the fish to get line back and several more air shows the light fluke hook straightend just before landing him and off into the deep of the Ambrose. WHAT A SHOW FOR EVERYONE!!! Bluefish
Had the Mary Lou Crew back out for a day of what started out as Bluefishing, we started at the Farms but there was no bite. We decided to switch over to some fluking back up in the Channels. Had a few shorts and a couple keepers before the drift picked up. We made a move to the Sandy Hook Channel and on the way came across a large school of nice blues and proceeded to catch all the blues the charter wanted. Fluke
Had the Mary Lou Crew out for the best fluke trip of the year! With 3 guys fishing we ended the day with 21 keepers and the smallest fish was 2 1/2 pounds, with the largest going 7 pounds. We had several fish in the 4 to 5 pound range. Great conditons and a beautiful day on the water!!! 2007 Wrap Up!!!!
The Crew of the Mary Lou would like to thank everyone for making the 2007 season another great year. We are now out of the water and already can't wait until the spring. I would like to apologize to all our loyal customers and the new ones that visit the website to read our reports. I got behind in July with posting reports and by the time I was able to get to them to much time had passed and I could not remember all the details. I promise I will not make the same mistake next season! As for the fishing we had another fantastic year with both the number of fish and the size. We would also like to announce that we will be spending the month of May in Sandy Hook Bay Marina for the spring Striper fishing, but then we will be moving the boat back to the Pt. Pleasant Manasquan inlet area in June and remain their the rest of the season. The boat will once again be docked at Hoffmans Marina. We hope everyone who joined us this year will return to fish with us again. We had all great people aboard this year and would like to see all of you back. Hope everyone has a healthy and happy New Year. Happy Holidays see you in the Spring!!!! Select another page || Go to Home Page
