Stripers

Had Al Williams and his wife Linda out for another stripe bass charter on 5/1/03. This trip turned out not as well as the last with unfavorable conditions, with the wind against the tide for most of the day and the water tempture dropping from the south wind. We had a few shorts and several knockdowns. Both on the chunk and the troll. Well there is always next time.

Wreck Fishing

Had a decent day out on the water 5/10/03 in flat calm conditions and thick fog! We hit some inshore wrecks for Black Fish and although we put a nice catch together for the group onboard, we had to release at least triple the amount that we kept. The charter went home happy with a nice bag of fillets and another great trip aboard the Mary Lou Crew!

Stripers

Had the guys from Eastern Concrete out for a striper charter on 5/21/03. We had fish on right away and it continued all day! We ended up catching are limit, with the fish ranging from 30 to 42 inches. The largest fish caught weighed 24 pounds! With several others in the 16 to 18 pound range! Stripers

Had the Chris Richards charter out on 5/29/03 for some striper fishing. With great weather for a change the fish however did not cooperate. Caught several bass in the 24-28 inch range and some bluefish, but the fishing was diffently off. Stopped on the way back at Shrewsburry Rocks with two other boats trolling, and no fish!!! As per the radio talk it was just an off day!!

Stripers

Had the crew out on 6/3/03 for two hours of trolling for stripers. We had a great catch, putting 4 bass in the boat ranging from 16lbs to 20lbs and one large bluefish. The ocean was flat and there was just a little light rain. A great two hour trip.

Had the Mary Lou Crew out on 6/7/03 for a striper trip. Trolling at the rocks for 5 hours produced all the bass the crew could handle with the fish ranging from 20-23 pounds. A few very big bluefish to keep things interesting. Came back in heavy rain but decent ocean conditions.

Stripers

Had the boat back up to the Shrewbury Rocks on 6/8/03 for another day of trolling. Again put large stripers in the box from 18-23 pounds, with bluefish mixed in. Had to work a little harder for the fish then the previous day. Great trip and nice weather!

Makos

Fished the Mako Mania shark tournament on both Saturday and Sunday 6/14,15/03. On Saturday we had 3 BIG blue sharks, and at around 3pm had the one we had been waiting for take are bait! It was a large Mako in the 300 lb class that screamed line of our 50sw like a race horse. After a one minute run the fish got wrapped up in one of the other lines and broke off!!! This was a possible tournament winner!! Back out on Sunday was not as good. Had another big blue shark and we could not get away from the blue fish!

Seabass

Had the Larry Miniski charter out for a great day of seabass fishing. We made one drop on a wreck southeast of the inlet and caught somewhere in the area of 200 seabass!!! The charter kept around 85 fish, some going in the range of 3 to 4 pounds! We also caught some nice blackfish. Great weather and the charter was extremely happy!

Makos

Had the boat out on Sunday for the last day of the Jersey Coast Shark Tournament. We had a real slow start to the day, but at 3pm everything changed! We caught two blue sharks with one in the 250 pound range and the other was a small one. At around 4:30 we had a large mako around 200 to 250 pounds in the slick chaseing blue fish, but he would not take any of our baits. Nice day on the water and a good ending to the shark tournaments for 2003!

Fluke

Had the boat out for a half day of fluking. As it turned out this was all we needed! Boating 5lb, 4lb, and a 3 1/2 lb fluke along with another 25 keepers it turned out to be a great day of fishing. We made one stop on an offshore lump in 67 feet of water and made the same short drift over and over. The crew was pleased and the coolers were filled with fillets!!

Fluke

had the boat out on 7/17/03 for a half day of fluke and seabass fishing. We put a nice catch together in a short amount of time. Fishing outside of the inlet working different pieces of the reef we caught some real nice fish with 4 seabass in the 4 pound range and the largest fluke around 3 1/2lbs.

Was out on 7/19/03 for a bluefish charter with a group of 4 guys. We fished at the farms, and marked some fish in the area. We started chumming and had the fish come around for a slow bite. The group put together a catch of fish ranging in all different sizes. The guys had a fun day on the water and could not of had better weather or ocean conditions.

Mako

had the boat out for a shark trip on 7/20/03. We started out at the glory hole, and upon our arrival we had a 200lb mako jump out of the water just 60 yards from the bow of the boat. We never got this fish to come into our slick. We ended up catching a small mako in the 50-75 lb class, which we released. We moved out to the chicken canyon, but found no sharks, but large schools of tuna breaking water chasing small bait fish. Trolled around in that area but the fish would not bite. We also fished around some lobster pots that were holding large schools of small mahi, but again they also had lock jaw.

Fluke

Had the boat out on a fluke charter with Al and Linda Williams. We less then ideal conditions for fluking, the group managed to put decent catch together, with some real nice seabass mixed in. It was a nice day on the water.

Fluke

Had the Brian Conklin charter out for a day of fluke fishing. We started up North where we caught fish the day before, but the fishing was real spotty with no drift. We made some moves around and managed to put a coulple of fish in the box. We finished up at the Sea Girt Reef and put a couple more fish in the box, we had some nice seabass mixed in.

Bluefish

Had the Rick Sherwin charter out for an afternoon bluefish trip. With the wind blowing hard out of the Southwest at 25 knots plus it was a tough day of fishing. We managed to put a decent catch of fish together and the charter was happy. The ride home into the stiff blow was not fun!!!!

Tuna

Was out to the Hudson Canyon for an overnighter. On the chunk we only had one yelloefin in the 40 pound class. Up on the troll in the morning produced 16 hook ups and we landed 9 of them. All the yellowfin were between 40 and 70 pounds. Great weather and flat calm seas!

Tuna

Had the boat out to the Toms canyon on Thursday 9/26 for an overnight trip. We started the trip with two 100 lb makos that we got to the boat and decided to release. At around 4:30am we had the yellowfin come in and landed 4 big fish all in the 80 to 90 lb range. Not bad for only three guys fishing!! Up on the troll in the morning produced one White Marlin and 4 longfin tuna in the 50 pound class. We also caught 15 mahi-mahi and decided to call it a day! Great weather and a good catch with the number of anglers.

Stripers

Had the boat out for a half day striper trip. The trip started out very well with two hookups right away with one fish going 30 inches. The rest of the time trolling was a dead issue with to many boats showing up to the area that caused the fish to go down and stop feeding. Stopped on a large school of bluefish working a large school of bait on the surface and caught all the bluefish one could want. Till next time!

Tuna

Had the crew out for one more shot at the Hudson Canyon. Arriving at 7pm within the first 45 minutes had are first run off. This fish was a big Bluefin tuna that began to dump the 80stw. After a short battle the fish broke off. The following morning produced another hookup this time the fish wasn't so lucky. After a 3 hour battle we landed a 175 pound bluefin. A hour or so later we hooked up again with a bigger fish and this after a shorter battle was landed in one hour and weighed 200 pounds. We had one mako shark that was released and several blue sharks. We also caught one mahi in the 10 pound range.

Blackfish

Had the Mary Lou Crew out for a great!! day of blackfishing. We made one drop on the Sandy Hook Reef and had 5 anglers on board and caught are limit of 40 blackfish!!!! All the fish were well over the 14 inch size limit with several fish going 41/2 to 5 lbs. Great day on the water and full coolers of nice fillets!
